The most common asked question I receive is –

”when is the best time to bring our baby for a Newborn Session” ?

The answer to this is – Newborn Baby photoshoot – 0 to 10 days

When a newborn baby arrives there is so much that needs to be checked off the list – Planning the nursery. Ensuring you have the correct car seat and pram, high chair/toys/dummy/food and the list goes on and on. If you would like some professional pictures of your baby then this also has to be planned. The best time for you to book your Newborn session is within the first few months after learning you are pregnant. Those months will probably pass faster than you think, so why not book it then ? By contacting me early in your pregnancy you can almost guarantee to book your session. Waiting too long could mean the very disappointing fact that I simply can’t squeeze you in. As places book up extremely quick and I’m normally booked up approximately 2/3 months in advance. I understand your baby probably wont arrive on time so I will need to be flexible. This is the reason I only book a certain amount per month to ensure I can swap and change the dates to fit. Once you have confirmed you booking (£99 deposit). All you need to do after you have given birth is contact me so we can arrange a date/time convenient.

If you choose me to photograph you baby I will invite you to my studio located in Plympton, Plymouth. I have all the wraps/hats and props to photograph your Newborn baby. My style of photography is neutral. I also like to use soft colours. I like to add beautiful dried flower crowns and the materials I use to wrap your baby’s are 100% cotton and blends of wool, silk, cashmere and mohair. This ensures your pictures look stunning and soft.

I first want to give you a Great Experience. When you come into the studio, it will already be heated to a warm temperature so your baby will be able to relax and sleep. Music of your choice will be playing and I will offer you a cup of tea or coffee. The session is all baby led, so I will go at the pace of your baby. I also photograph your family or any siblings together with your Newborn.

At this stage in life your baby will be very sleepy and will usually be settled through most of the session. All I need you todo is sit back and relax and enjoy the session.

After the two weeks old window your baby will become more alert and awake. They are usually not as supple. This means that posing your baby may be a little more difficult and your baby may spend more of the session awake. This is why is important to plan and book early.

Whether your baby needs to sleep or feed, this is normal and I will leave the room for you to feed in privacy.

I find trying to capture these pictures are almost impossible if the correct lighting, materials and props are not used. I feel your baby really needs to be posed and lit correctly to get that gorgeous look.

These pictures will be incredibly special – Each time you look at them you will remember  just how your baby was at that age –

If you would like a photoshoot and your baby is past the 14 day window, I can still offer certain poses and family portraits. If you are at this stage please message me through my contact section and we can chat ?
