If you’re looking to book a Newborn Photographer and your considering booking me then you’ll perhaps like to know what happens during a newborn baby photoshoot.

When you arrive at my studio I will greet you when you arrive. I use soft lighting within the studio to help relax you.
Before I start, I normally like to get to know a little about you and your family. I will always ask if you have any specific requirements. I like to listen to your answers so I can get a better idea of what sort of pictures you’re after ? It’s your session so I want to capture the beautiful images you would like. I also send out a questionnaire several days before you arrive, so I already have an idea of what you would like and what setups to prepare.
It’s very warm in the studio as I want you baby to be comfortable throughout the session, so dress light and possibly bring a change of clothes for when it’s time to have your family portraits.

Now it’s time to settle your baby. I generally take the baby from you and settle them myself. I’m after photos of your baby sleeping. But if your baby does wake up, some of my best portraits are of the baby awake. I try not to pass the baby between myself and mum to much. I also try to use Dad more. I feel that when taking the baby away from Mum and the smell of her milk, it seems to unsettle them more.

Once your baby is settled, I will position your baby ready for some photographs. I generally try to set up 3 to 4 different set ups before you arrive. Depending on how the baby will sleep, or if they need more milk can depend on the length of the session. My sessions are all baby led so we go at the speed of your baby.

I try to photograph a variety of different poses and positions of your baby. Capturing anything you’ve specifically asked for or capturing what I think you would like, by what you have answered in your questionnaire or told me before the session. I like to photograph a variety of wide to close angle pictures

I use stunning colours and soft materials that are soft to touch. I really look for luxury materials and fabrics that look beautiful on the camera.

Usually, I do family and parent portraits at the end of the session as your baby may be awake by then, and they don’t need to be asleep.

I don’t believe in editing out all the baby’s imperfections – these are completely normal with newborn babies.

Safety of your baby is paramount throughout the sessions.

After your session I will invite you back approximately one to two weeks later to view your edited photography.
The viewing and ordering appointment is a great chance to get my help with selecting images from the gallery that you would like to buy. I can give you advice on photo products and wall art. I really feel most of my family’s really value photography. For a lot of family’s it’s a massive investment and I think it’s so important to place these pictures on your walls rather than leave your beautiful photography to be forgotten about on a hard drive. My wall art is absolutely stunning and I sell wall art that can’t be purchased on the high street. It’s personally selected by myself and has the WOW factor when my family’s view it.

My newborn photography prices are available to view in my information booklet. Drop me a message & I will email you a booklet. My collections start from just £199.

Sessions ideally need to be booked a few weeks in advance. I’m getting booked up really quickly so to secure your place as I only take 8 to 10 bookings per month I would recommend booking after your first scan.
